Volume 1, Issue 1: 8/18/23

Greetings Bulldogs!

My name is Zack Kleypas and I am the proud new Superintendent of Thorndale ISD.

I am excited for this 2023-24 school year and I am very optimistic about the great things we can accomplish together. Thorndale is a very special place with a rich tradition of success. I have already met so many kind and welcoming people but if we have not met yet, please do not hesitate to come say hello if you see me.

Prior to arriving in Thorndale, I was the High School principal just 40 minutes away at Pflugerville High School and Park Crest Middle School before that. Before becoming an administrator, I was a high school math teacher.

My family is also incredibly excited to join the TISD community. My wife is a former elementary teacher and we have 4 children; Madelyn (14 years old), Jaxson (5 years old), Easton (3 years old), and Harrison (2 years old).

As both a Superintendent and a parent, I realize that communication is very important between the school and families. Thus, please stay connected to important information in each issue of the Superintendent’s Blog, and feel free to reach out to me anytime at Zack.Kleypas@Thorndale.txed.net

First Week of School!

I hope you and your children had a great first week (2 days) of school. I know that my children came home excited AND exhausted!

As a district, we have been talking about all of the things that went well, and some areas to tweak.

That being said, your voice and vantage point are incredibly helpful to our ability to improve. We would love it if you would take a moment to share your feedback on the following anonymous survey:

New TISD Staff:

As we start the 23-24 school year, we have some other new faces around the district. Please help me welcome some of our new staff to Thorndale ISD:

Upcoming Events - August 2023:

For the most up-to-date information on upcoming events, please visit our Thorndale ISD website. However, here are some highlights of important dates below:

Stay Connected through the TISD Website:

Have you visited the TISD website recently at www.thorndale.txed.net? If not, you may be missing out on lots of helpful information. Most of the website is organized the same as last year, with minor updates to include new staff, dates, etc. However, we have made two notable changes that may be helpful.

We added a Parents & Students Tab at the top. This link takes you to a page with tons of helpful information.
  1. We added a Back to School Button in the center of the homepage. This link takes you to all of the important back-to-school information you need.

Student Registration Forms Due:

This is a friendly reminder to please complete all of your student registration forms for the 23-24 school year. This includes the child nutrition application (or emailing janders@thorndale.txed.net if you know your family will not qualify), and connecting to parent square by downloading the App.

Here are some helpful QR codes to get you to each of the forms:

Follow the TISD Facebook Page:

In addition to updates to our website, many of you already know that we push out a lot of information directly through Facebook. If you haven’t already liked/followed our district Facebook page, please do so!

Stay Connected to TISD Sports:

We are proud of our Bulldogs here in Thorndale, TX, and supporting them at games and events is critical! To stay updated on all of our sports teams' schedules check out this link: Thorndale ISD - Athletic Schedules

Chromebook Insurance:

Are you interested in purchasing insurance for your child’s school issues Chromebook? You can do so by logging into “My School Bucks” (lunch payments) and purchasing the insurance. Log In to Your Account

You can also purchase replacement chargers or cases that will be delivered to the student after the receipt is received. This is for HS and MS only.

Here is a link to view the optional agreement: Chromebook agreement & insurance (rev 8/2023)

Thorndale ISD Community Involvement Program:

Have you heard? We are looking for parents and community members to join Thorndale ISD’s Community Involvement Program and learn how we are accomplishing our mission of striving for excellence.

Each participant will have the opportunity to explore Thorndale ISD from the inside. Spend four different days throughout the school year learning more about Thorndale ISD and how our campuses are preparing our students for the future.

Learn about the programs and opportunities that are available across the district and become an advocate for TISD, our students, and this community.

*This is a volunteer opportunity for community members to get involved with Thorndale ISD.
